More Art...

I just got this piece back today.  The color is much more uniform than the pic shows.  (camera flash blew it out...).

Most of you probably don't know this,  but back in October I started taking classes at the Art Institute of Ohio in Cincinnati to study Film (Video Production).  As part of my degree I have to take a few fundamental art classes... anyway, I just finished a mixed media project for my Design class so I thought I'd give you all a peek of what I've been up to... Hope you like it....

Best Face Ever.

Erin took this the other day with her new camera... apparently, he was eating a leaf.  Amazing.

I spent the last 2 weeks of my life working on my bike... here are the results...

Here is a couple of pics of the stock bike.  The first one is actually really close to what mine looked like... with the saddlebags, minus the fringe....

Here it is now.  The pics didn't turn out great but you get the idea...

Heres the List...
Flat black paint, solo seat, new drag bars, shaved rear fender with new brake light and turn signals, lowered rear, wrapped pipes, cone air filter, shaved brackets... etc.  I'm really pleased with it but I still have work to do... swap out the front pegs and grips, new mirror, pinstripes, etc....

I had a little help so props to Matt Hagler for help and use of his tools and shop... but mostly thank you to my amazing wife and kids that gave me up for 2 weeks to get it finished.  I love you guys.

A Night for the Books....

Tonight was one of those nights.  You know the ones, they never start our right and set a foul mood for the rest of your day... here's my story... in short form.

1.  Bike problems.  My choke was stuck wide open causing my bike to idle at about 4200rpms.  Finally fixed it at 5:30pm making me....

2.  30 Minutes late to work. (fortunately my amazing wife and loyal volunteers were able to cover my butt.)  Once I got there...

3.  1 of the bands canceled.  This isn't usually a problem, but when its 30 minutes before the show it tends to throw a wrench in things.  Not to mention that I didn't hear this from the band or from their booking agent, rather I heard it from another band that got the information over a week ago.  Yeah, that's right... the booking agent knew for over a week that his band wouldn't make it and still didn't contact me.  Nice... and on top of that,

4.  34 paid entries.  34... that's it.  Until tonight we've never had less than 60 kids at a show.  Needless to say I was a little upset.  I felt bad for the bands,  it always sucks to drive hours and hours just to get paid $50 and play for a handful of kids.  But the Icing on the cake was...

5.  The Fuzz.  The Police Sergeant showed up tonight because a neighbor called in a complaint.  Apparently a kid in a blue low rider truck was showing off in front of the kids in our parking lot and decided it was a great idea to squeal his tires and speed through the neighborhood.  This guy wasn't one of our kids, he never even pulled in our parking lot but the cops came and threatened us anyway.  So...

Needless to say as soon as the show was over I was ready to tell everyone to go home and call it a night, but I figured we're supposed to be open until midnight, I'll stay open till midnight.  My goal was to lock myself in the utility closet until 12:05 and just let my volunteers handle everything.  As I sat down to catch my breath I started to pay attention to what was going on... I noticed that 2 of the bands had decided to stay awhile and hang out with the kids.  Both of those bands were full of good, honest Christian guys who actually wanted to share the gospel with our kids.  It was amazing.  One of the bands is even staying with a few of my kids tonight.  I had at least 3 or 4 different guys tell me that they had a meaningful talk about God with some kids and were even able share some of the gospel.... Its funny how God took what I saw as an unsuccessful show (we lost about $25 on it) and used it to create opportunities for His word to be shared.  It's always when we feel the most useless and ill-prepared that God steps in and takes control.

Now I have to admit.  I've been asking some of questions of God lately, why wasn't he using me?... are we doing any good at The Warehouse?.. things like that.  And to be honest, when I didn't get an immediate answer I quit seeking..... seriously, I did.... I haven't been in the scriptures in probably 2 or 3 weeks, I'm not even sure where my bible is right now.

"Just know this: that God is faithful, even when you don't have faith yourself." - MxPx

I'm learning that God never gives up on us... never.  His faithfulness is amazing and the grace He's already shone to us is unmeasurable.  How can I expect God to use me and speak to me on a regular basis if I'm not going to even try?  It's kind of funny how we can find God if we'd only go looking for Him.

more later... probably much later.
